There is a natural moving away from parents in adolescence but this can start much earlier in parent - child relationships starved of affection.

ALZHEIMER'S  DISEASE:
According to the Alzheimer's Association, there are 15 million family members and friends providing unpaid
care to people with dementia; hundreds of thousands of them meet regularly in support groups like ours to
exchange information and understanding available nowhere else. Because science understands so little about
dementia, we are the experts. To find a caregiver support group, contact the Alzheimer's Association, your

Neuropathology: Alzheimer's in Real Time, by Eliezer Masliah.
"Alzheimer's disease is the commonest neurodegenerative disorder in aging human populations. It is characterized by memory loss and behavioral alterations in its early stages, and by severe cognitive impairment and dementia later on. Alzheimer's is diagnosed definitely only after death, through the identification in the brain of extracellular protein deposits known as amyloid plaques and intracellular protein aggregates called neurofibrillary tangles. It is uncleal exactly when and how the plaque form, but classical neuropathological studies have indicated that they develop over extended periods of time and long before dementia becomes apparent."  Brain in the News, March 2008
